Guide to Promisance
The following is a guide to the web-based game "Promisance."
Contents
Promisance is a web-based strategy game where you can control an empire in the future, present or past. You take your empire through times of war and times of peace to become the highest ranked player. Choose your own unique strategy and test it against others as the race for the #1 slot. The road to become Promisance is not an easy one as you will encounter enemy empires and friendly ones as well.
This is where you take control of your empire. All the ways to govern and control your empire are reached from this navigation menu. You can send aid, create buildings, use turns to produce cash, explore for land, try to win the lottery, send and receive messages, attack enemy empires, buy goods from markets, and many many more options.
The bar across the top is a quick way to find how many turns you have, cash on hand, mana available for spells, food for your empire, and your current networth. This is the easiest way to find these items without having to go to the main menu or status page.
There are a total of six races in promisance. Each race has unique bonuses and penalties. Select a race most desirable for your strategy based upon these bonuses.

There are three different time periods: past, present, and future. Choose the one that best suits your preference. You can be in the past and control ancient dragons and wondrous wizards or take hold of cyborgs and control an empire in the future. You can even stay in the present and fight with modern day war machines.
The best way to gain land and become a bigger empire is to buy units and use them to attack other empires. There are four types of units, each with their own abilities, that you can send into battles. The four units are:
- Footmen - low attack rating, high defense rating
- Enchanted Catapults - middle attack rating and defense rating
- Dragons - high attack rating, low defense rating
- Galleons - need 2 of these to send aid to other empires
The Standard Attack sends in each kind of troop (ie. if in past it sends in Footmen, Enchanted Catapults, Dragons, and Galleons). You can choose the number of each unit to send or just send them all in. The choice is yours.
The ability to choose how many or all is included in these attack options too. Use these attacks when you believe you are able to break through enemies defense in a particular unit. These kinds of attacks are very useful when an enemy has low units of kind and you dont want to suffer high causualties.
- Ground Attack - If you only want to send in your Footmen, use this attack.
- Stone Bombardment - Enchanted Catapults are the only units sent when you choose this type of attack.
- Aerial Assault - To attack with only Dragons, this attack option is best suited to your needs.
- Hydro Assault - Having only your Galleons attack your enemy is the use of this option.
This spell allows you to view an empires stats, including his land, troops, money, food, and peasant count.
When this spell is used 3% of the enemies troops, mages, and peasants are destroyed. If the enemy has cast a Spell Shield then only 1% is destroyed.
Casting a Spell Shield on your empire makes it difficult for other empires to cast spells on your empire.
If you want to blow away a portion of your enemies food then this spell does the trick.
The enemies mana supply for his mages is the target of this spell. When cast it destroys a portion of the enemies empire mana.
This certain spell destroys the infrastructure of an enemies buildings.
When used, a portion of gold appears in your treasury.
To attack enemies of a different time period, you first need to cast this spell.
If you have more mages than another empire, you can fight them using this spell.
Having money around is dangerous when people use this spell. Using this spell will transfer a percentage of enemies gold over to your empire.
Markets give an additional boost to your per capita income.
Huts provide a place for your peasants to stay. More huts mean more peasants which also increases per capita income.
Blacksmiths manufactures your units. The more of these you build the more units produced a turn.
Keeps lower the cost of maintenance of your troops. These include food consumption and private market prices.
Mage Towers are a place for your mages to study. The more Mage Towers built the more mages you'll have.
Farms produce food for your empire. If your severely lacking in food it would be wise to build these.
Towers provide additional defense for your empire. If you feel your troops defense isn't enough then build these.
This menu allows you to join alliances. To join an alliance you will need thier ID and password. If you want to create an alliance you would also need to go to this menu too.
The list of alliance under this column are those your current alliance is allied to. You are not able to use attacks against them.
Under the War List are alliances you are at war with. When you use an attack against empires in these alliances you get a 20% bonus to your attacks.
The list of empires are those that are in your alliance too. These people will be in a different color on your score list and you are not able to attack them either.
When you need more cash take out a loan. Be aware though, if you don't pay back the loans it accumulates and then it is taken out of your Networth at the end of the reset.
If you have extra cash and don't know what to use it on then store it in the bank for a rainy day when you really need it.
To buy your troops from a set price without fear of inflation use the private market.
If you want to check for lower prices than the private market, the public market is the place to go. You can also sell units on the public market for a higher price than on the private market, but they may not be sold and a 20% restocking fee will be charged.
